Who can use this feature?

This feature is available to all CargoON users, as well as to users of the TFF (Trans for Forwarders) product line who have the ARS add-on enabled - Solutions for automating the publication of freight offers (routes and automatic rules).

In this article you will learn:

  • what balancing methods are available for contracts on routes,
  • how to change the balancing method settings,
  • in which situations it is worth using each balancing method.

Balancing methods are the available ways of distributing transport orders among carriers assigned to a given route. Thanks to them, you can decide in what order and under what rules subsequent freight offers are sent to individual carriers.

Setting the balancing method

If you have active (valid) route conditions with more than one carrier, you can set the balancing method for concluded contracts yourself.

  1. To set the chosen balancing method, go to the Routes with carriers module and click on the selected route.
  2. In the route details, choose the balancing method you are interested in from the available Balancing methods list.

Within fixed routes, the following balancing methods are available:

  • manual sequence management,
  • as determined by the route terms,
  • percentage share,
  • freight limit,
  • by price ascending.

Manual sequence management

By default, manual sequence management is the active balancing method.

This means your transport offers will be distributed to carriers according to their order in the table.

To change the order of carriers on the list, click the up/down arrow located next to the sequence number.

Manual sequence management is particularly important when you use the sequential publication option when publishing a freight to the route.

As determined by the route terms

You can choose this balancing method if you specify the planned number of shipments in the route conditions.

Your transport offers will be distributed according to the previously agreed conditions for the carriers.

This option will be unavailable if you did not specify the planned shipments when setting the route conditions.

Percentage share

Select the Percentage share balancing method, and then specify the expected percentage share of each carrier in the orders on this route.

This setting will affect the order of carriers when publishing a freight. The order will be automatically adjusted to achieve the percentage share in orders that you have set.

This balancing method will be unavailable if the list is empty or if the arrangements between the carriers on the list concern different currencies.

Freight limit

By choosing this balancing method, you can set a percentage limit of orders for carriers.

Set the maximum and minimum percentage share for individual carriers, and then save the settings.

By price ascending

By choosing this balancing method, your transport offers will first be directed to the carrier who offered the lowest price on a given route. Once that carrier's shipment limit is exhausted, the system will automatically move on to the next carrier with the next lowest price.
