Benchmark report

Who can use this function?

Function available to CargoON and Trans for Forwarders users who have purchased the complementary product: Dedicated reports.

Reports are visible to users selected by the company ordering access.

Learn more about Dedicated reports.

Based on data from the Benchmark report you can:

  • compare freight prices
  • check the trend of prices on the market
  • better adjust your freight rates to market trends
  • optimise costs and minimise the risk of overpaying for freights

To open the report, go to the Benchmark tab in the Dedicated reports module.

Once clicked, you will see the report made up of three main sections:

  1. Benchmark KPI tiles- showing summarised values of KPI metrics
  2. Prices chart - a line chart showing the trend line of prices of accepted freights
  3. Offers set and responses chart - a bar chart

The report is based on price summaries for accepted freights sent to subcontractor groups defined on the Platform, Fixed routes and SmartMatch.

The report shows all accepted freights with a past date of unloading. This means that:

  • freights which did not result in a transaction on the Trans.eu Platform are not presented in the report,
  • freights for which the goods have not yet been unloaded (according to the unloading date agreed on the freight) will not be shown until the unloading date becomes a historical / past date.

KPI tiles

The top bar of the report consists of tiles presenting the sum of the values for the time range selected in the filters

The up/down arrows indicate whether the trend is increasing or decreasing, compared to the previous time period.

Hover the mouse cursor over a given tile to see additional information:

  • on the arrows - which time period the value is being compared to
  • on the number - a hint as what the selected value refers to

What individual tiles mean:

  • Median accepted price - median price of accepted freights (those which resulted in a transaction).
  • Median exchange price - median exchange price. The calculation is based on the exchange prices from the days on which the transactions were concluded on the Trans.eu Platform.
An exchange price for a specific transaction date is calculated based on the price algorithm used on the Trans.eu Platform. It is the same price that is presented in the publication window when publishing freights on the Trans.eu exchange.
  • Price range of the offers received - the range of price offers received from carriers. Price offers are received during negotiations via the negotiation window in the freight drawer or the negotiation window in the messenger.
  • Freights - total number of freights based on which the values in the other tiles were determined. It also refers to the number of freights presented in the report (blue trend line of accepted freights).
  • Responses - total number of price offers received from carriers during negotiations of freights presented in the chart. It also refers to the number of responses presented in the chart (green bars).

Offers set and responses chart

The second part of the report contains a line chart. It is adjusted to the filters settings - the selection made in the filters section defines what will be presented in the report, e.g. the trend line of prices of accepted freights (those for which a transaction was concluded on the Platform), and the trend line of the lowest price offers received from carriers in the negotiation process.

Chart legend:

  • Trend line: Accepted price: blue trend line of the price of accepted freights
  • Trend line: Exchange price: yellow trend line of the exchange price
  • Range of received offers: grey bars of the price range of offers received from carriers
  • Proposals: grey bar showing the number of carriers that received a freight offer
  • Responses: green bar showing the number of carriers who responded to a freight offer received
  • Max received offers: grey trend line of the highest price offers received from carriers
  • Min received offers: grey trend line of the lowest price offers received from carriers
  • Median received offers: blue trend line of median price offers received from carriers

Hover the mouse cursor over the chosen value to view the details:

For detailed information on individual chart data, hover the cursor over the particular area of interest to display an additional description.

The description refers to the details of freights per the specified day of unloading. It includes:

  • Unloading date - date of unloading of freights
Unloading date - on a multi-stop freight (with multiple loading and/or unloading places) it is the date of the last place of unloading of the freight.
  • Accepted price / Exchange price / Max received offers / Min received offers / Median received offers - information on accepted freight price / exchange price / maximum price received from carriers during negotiations / minimum price received from carriers during negotiations / median price offers received. Displayed information depends on the type of trend line indicated by the cursor.

Tiles: they show aggregated data from all accepted freights with the same date of unloading:

  • Freights - total number of accepted freights
  • Proposals - total number of carriers who received the freight offer
The Proposals tile displays all the carriers that received freight offers. If the carrier received several offers of similar freights on a given day, each offer sent to that carrier is individually counted and presented on the report.
  • Responses - total number of price offers received from carriers
Similarly to the Proposals tile, the Responses tile counts all price offers received from carriers.
  • Responses(%) - percentage of offers received from carriers for sent freight offers
  • Min received offer - minimum price offer received from carriers during the freight negotiation process
  • Max received offer - maximum price offer received from carriers during the freight negotiation process

Table (information below the tiles): The information presented in the table refers to specific freights (it is not aggregated information).

  • Reference number - unique freight reference / identification number
  • Accepted price - price of the transaction that was concluded
  • Exchange price - exchange price at the time of publication of the freight (this is the same price that is presented on the Platform when publishing the freight to the Freight exchange)
No exchange price - means that there is no price given on the Platform when publishing a freight on the Trans.eu Exchange. The reason for the absence of this price is the insufficient amount of data that could be used by the algorithm to determine a reliable price forecast.
  • Min received offer - minimum price offer received from carriers during the freight negotiation process
  • Max received offer - maximum price offer received from carriers during the freight negotiation process

Table of freights

You can enable the table view, in which you can see all the freights included in the report. To do so, hover the mouse cursor over the side menu and click on the tile symbol.

The data displayed in the table can be filtered according to your needs.

Filtering

Click on the filter symbol in the right-hand column to open the filter settings for the Benchmark report.

Use the filters on the right-hand side of the chart to define the scope of data you need:

  • range of dates for unloading freights (Unloading date)
  • you can exclude freights and freight offers below/above the indicated price value or define a price range for the conducted negotiations (Accepted Price)
  • decide which components should be presented in the chart (click on the chosen component name)
  • define the general direction of transport of your freights you are interested in (Directions)
  • define the specific direction of transport of your freights you are interested in (Exact route)
  • select the employee(s) whose freights you want to filter out (Employee)
The Benchmark Report converts the values of accepted freights into a single currency (please note that freights may be accepted in different currencies). The calculations are based on the exchange rate on the day of unloading of goods at the last place of unloading.
